Lansing-Dreiden - A Line You Can Cross
Lansing-Dreiden (video from youtube is linked) is a band I just ignored in school. But their new album, The Dividing Island, is actually pretty solid. Some of it burns pretty quickly after a few listens, but there are some tracks like this one that I could sort of just listen to forever.
The key to this song for me, aside from the main melody throughout and the great vocals, is the keyboard line that plays through the chorus and in the coda. It's baroque vibraphone magic that beautifully compliments the vocal melody and makes all the twists and turns that you would hope for out of a song threatening to make L-D this year's one-hit wonder indie band. Yeah, maybe "Line" is the "No Rain" to L-D's Blind Melon. If nothing else, it's something that will always beautifully define these few months of my life.
